"Sacred Circles"





Usually the first shape a child draws, Jung believed the circle (or mandala) denoted a unification of opposites, served as expression of the self, and represented one's total personality. He called it "individuation". And that first scribbled circle we attempted as a small child? It's very likely our first self-portrait.

A circular form provides a degree of stability, structure, and focus. And studies have shown that drawing within a circular format has a calming physiological effect on the body in terms of heart rate and body temperature.

If you've never drawn a mandala, you might want to give this oldest of art forms a try... but please, let all rules fall by the wayside!
