Le Parcour

You might not expect to view a Parkour video on this site, as it is seen to most -and now accepted- as a sport. Well, to my eyes and senses, this French art de déplacement is a dance as well as a sport, a dance that uses its environment for a stage.
I also happen to use Aniter Daher's 'Two Foot Punch' as a reading text for my young adult English students, as parcour (parkour in English) makes for an interesting way for her heroine to travel in her crime/mystery novel, one that keeps my readers...reading.
I am also pleased to share that Anita will be helping me write my own Children & Young Adult stories in the coming months!

so many thoughts occur to me watching this (and all the other parcour videos I have seen) ... I suppose the one thought that surmounts them all - or perhaps is really the sum of them all - is, how amazing we humans are when we think we can do something, and then simply do it ... thanks for sharing and, as always, stimulating us.

Freerunning! That's what my friends and I call it. :)

Those guys are amazing-I doubt I'd ever have that kind of balance. The whole time I was cringing inwardly, expecting them to fall. They'd be really good a robbing banks I'd bet.

Yes, Oddy! It is Freerunning when you allow yourself to make unneccessary movements..I think Freerunning & Parkour used to be one and the same though, and in the book I mention, written in '06 they're not seperate..
I watch and remember my gymnastic days and DREAM of going back and trying Parcour out - it would be an absolute blast!! But...it will remain just a dream now ;-)
And Stuart, I feel the same way. I think that whenever someone is NOT there to say, You can't!, that human limitations just vanish ............
