these words have been with me all day...I keep returning to them. They are both troubling (because "to know" is no small feat) and encouraging (because such knowledge is clearly the source of strength one needs in this world)... thanks so much for sharing.
I think the choice to know comes before any knowing. The choice to own one's life, in my opinion, is the difficult part. The knowing then becomes a detail of sorts, one that already abides in you.
