The Last Goodbye

left floating in the air
despite their weight
your words
catch my breath
and crack the egg-shell layer
that protected what I thought I knew
of you and
of me

I wait
for more
words more you more me more please more
but when I must settle
for those alone
I float aweigh
dust and egg
deluging the cracks
of this thin-skinned carapace.

It has to have happened, been experienced, to be said so well. A wonderful poem. Sorry for the pain.
