About nothing

 .
I have been a practicing believer in the Art of doing nothing since my early 30's. My day requires this nothing space and I am lacking and my spirit is weary when I ignore my need. Call it meditation, time out, noodling, reflection, prayer, or allowing my imagination to play - that precious time of silence and of actually doing nothing at all is intrinsic to my life.

The times I have brought it up in conversation have usually resulted in a look of confusion, and behind the innability to understand my simple words, in their eyes I read: lazy; strange; there's no time to think about what she's saying; produce! act! consume! succeed!; but if I do nothing, I just might have to see myself.

In Danielle Rey, named Winnipeg's visual arts ambassador in 2010, I am pleased to have found an equal! And though some fellow city dwellers might have the same confused look when they see her billboards, I am pleased to say that see them they will, as "Do Less, Slowly", appears on a street in their neighbourhood!

Here's wishing you a weekend that includes a little bit of N-O-T-H-I-N-G

I couldn't agree more.

Just as winter forces nature to slow down and get ready for another season, so should we.

I like this a lot. I even do nothing sometimes. I’ll have to remind myself of this more often.
