Barren

Bare boned, they stand
Stark naked,
Skeleton arms
Reaching to the prairie sky
In hope.

Victims of life
In the North
The frost clutches
At their roots,
Spreads ice
Up
Their veins
Where weeks ago
Sweet sap
.......flowed
...................

I've read this six, seven times now, and each time I find myself so...arrested...by the final lines. I like this composition...word and image dancing, embracing, speaking to me.

I love how you seem so fluid, so effortless...gorgeous.

The words are great. There is a beauty in the struggle, the survival, as we view in this same sequence year after year.
