blue moon

.
we roll in deep snows and
our laughter echoes
against bright winter moons

when we stop laughing
the sound of our breath

lingers on
till one of us gives in to numbed fingers and toes

cautiously, softly
we rise from our forms;
humbled we stand
..............in admiration
of angels
left in our place

Yesterday

yesterday
angels roamed my yard
snow-bound tales of love
now gone
.....their forms erased
by sins etched in their place.

Today

.
so i sit to count my sins
.....no rest for the wicked
ringing in my ears.

do i write them as i see them
or set down their account as
they were told to me once?
.

Tomorrow

.
the child has come
.....the sun has fallen on
crisp white oblivion.

now we search for next
and wonder what tomorrow
has in store for us sinners.
